James Gianakos is the Senior Pastor at Free Evangelic Church. Pastor Gianakos and his wife Helen started Free Evangelic Church in 1965 in the Mission District of San Francisco, California.
His own encounter with Christ took place in 1950 while he was working as a merchant seaman. While his ship was docked in San Francisco, he was invited to the Greek Apostolic Church's annual convention where Reverend Christopher Economou from New York was preaching. James received Christ and became very active in the Greek church, ministering as Assistant Pastor and Assistant Superintendent.
As the new millineum begins, "Looking to Jesus" continues to be the source and strength of Pastor's vision for the church. His passion to turn peoples eyes and hearts towards Christ becomes clearly evident by his uncomprimising style of preaching God's Word.
Humbly sharing with the body of Christ the unique gift that God has given him, Pastor Gianakos fervently ministers his gift in a way that will challenge you to know Christ's reality through the Bible and bring glory to God through your own life. Whether it's called old fashion power or Pentecost, his ministry will bring a refreshing experience in your walk with Christ.

Along with his spiritual leadership at Free Evangelic, Pastor Gianakos also has a weekly Radio Program serving the Greek community in San Francisco and the surrounding area.
